A: drive usually has the cable twisted, while B: drive hast it straight. On your picture the drive is connected as B:, if there is no second twist next to the mobo connector.

A 500 GB SSD is the same price like a spinning disk and will still give you a performance boost. So if you dont have any disks laying around it is no question what to get.

Enabling SMB 1.x support on Win7 and Win10 may also be needed to make fileshares usable for W98. M$ dropped support for the old protocols used by W9x due to security issues a while back, but it can be activated again.

You can copy the Win98 folder off the CD onto the hard drive and run the install from there if you wanted. The Olivetti CGA is cool and rare but might give you more complications finding the cfg than the Opti Board and the Adaptec SCSI. The Opti based EISA boards share a pretty generic cfg-file so allmost any opti EISA motherboard file will work.
