The seller of the VSTA couldn't guarrantee of its working condition so I opted for the 775i65G. I have a PentiumD 820 for now. If everything works ok I'll order the Pentium E5800. Also my RAM kit is a Samsung 2x1GB DDR 400MHz cl3. Will I need a cl2.5 kit ?

I'd also go for the 650Ti. It's less noizy, consumes less power and might me better in openGL than the 5870. I have one (but with a 750 bios) in a C2Q system using Win7/WinXP as a backup gaming/LAN Party PC. You can always upgrade your cpu, if you wish. Modded Xeons like the E5450 would be a nice …

I haven't had a single issue with my Viper V330 Riva 128. Paired with a Monster 3D Voodoo I get full compatibility for DOS and Windows 95 era 3D games.

There seems to be a code which might be a product number hidden behind the VESA feature connector on the first pic. Yes, it is "PT-5913-3" Also: no FCC ID or similar on the rear by any chance? Nothing at the back of the card. Only a warranty void sticker, a "Made in China" and a "V1.1" sticker.

If you want to be era appropriate either a GF3 or even better a Radeon 8500. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C0GUeUVIjs The GF4 Ti 4200 would be even faster though, if you don't mind that it's a 2002 release.

What would be considered an upgrade for my WIN98SE rig (PC1 in signature)? A GF4 Ti4400 and a Radeon 9600Pro might be faster in older games but the FX5900XT would definitely be faster in games later than 2000. Yes this drive spins at 4200rpm, but I don't mind. I'm only going to use it as a test-bench drive in order to do some benchmarks in win98se.
