I must correct myself: When I tried again today (checking after testing the waveblaster on the AWE32), archimedean dynasty worked flawlessly. So I must still have had configuration problems the other day.

OK, I cycled the board through all SB cards I have and ran Hexen -warp 02 on the CT1740 (ASP onboard) DSP 4.04 I found nothing unusual. on the CT1770 (empty ASP socket), DSP 4.13 I got a high pitched humming noise right at the start of play that wouldn't go away, on the CT3980 (ASP onboard) DSP 4.13 …

I only have two with AGP 2x, a third one is on the way. you can also try an newer BIOS the V5 5500 AGP came with 1.06, the newest is 1.18 I wouldn't wanna try that, really. 😊 How do you install this Waveblaster in Windows? Just run the hardware manager? Edit: Just switch Midi from 220 to 330, I guess? Next Edit: With Hexen, I choose General Midi, not Waveblaster, right? Or doesn't it matter? And what do I look (hear) for then?

Well, as I said, very rarely did a benchmark start in normal (2 chip) mode - to die quickly. I have seen V3s crash through power starvation in AGP before, so I wonder if this might be a problem with power suppy etc. The resoldered CAP is also a suspect. Could it be the AGP Socket? See my edit above your post! Works on one leg. I checked photos already, this is the original cap. Perhaps someone broke it off, it is quite protruding. With only one chip, the thing is rivaled by my V3@200. Not much faster. Only much louder.

The only time it ever ran, it ran on a single chip. I didn't set that though - dunno why it only used 1 chip and 32 MB ram. Legacy blocked DMA maybe?

We are talking type 3 here. I figured it out eventually. Still, some DOS games don't run. So why bother? And every time I boot, I must run CTCM, Mixerset and AWEutil, according to your own statement. Perhaps diagnose need not run? Still a mess. Does Type 1 even exist for AWE32?
