Re: Alpha version of Direct3D support

Ok I tried this i686 version and it starts up fine. Maybe it's the SSE thing that causes the problems if it runs fine on a p4? Well hard to say. I dont want to start building anything on this windows box anyways and this is the only one fast enough for dosbox anyways. Hmmh yeah I was comparing to a …

Re: Alpha version of Direct3D support

Your builds still aren't working for me. The only build that works on the page is the normal cvs with old joystick support from 6.6.04. On the old one it says initialized bla bla restoring device objects and gets stuck. On the new one it says d3d initialized bla bla bla Drawing rectangle 0x0 and …

Re: System Shock 2

runs fine on my new box too. Only problem is then install which can be bypassed. I dont think the patch should have anything to do with the OS though, but maybe it could help. Atleast it's just the only patch for the game that adds multiplayer and stuff and fixes some bugs.

Re: Star Control 2 & GUS

Yeah I tried it. With plain 0.61 the sounds were distorted full of errors.. it worked till the part where I fly around but when I left to hyperspace it died with some cacheblock error. It works fine with CVS 5.6.04. Just have to use the flag /g:bios that fixes graphics or otherwise the colors might …

Yeah it's an old thread indeed. Maybe he never got out of that stink. Dont know if nicht sehr gut ever got that problem fixed, but I did have a similar problem with one of my pci audio cards. Re: runningprobs with syndicate

Well I tried syndicate too. I noticed that the menus and intros are very cpu greedy. I needed to set the cycles to 15000 to get it run mostly smoothly in the menus. The game worked perfectly though. I seemed to have some trouble with the intros being slow and weird though. Maybe they were stuck …

Re: Skipping Sound

in DOSBox General
The skipping sound isn't any bug. you are running the emulator with too many cycles for you computer. you need to lower the cycles or use some frameskipping. As is stated clearly in the FAQ or readmes..

Re: Mount problems

in DOSBox General
frontend is an application that does all the work for you and you dont have to play with configuration and mounting. there are atleast 2 of them around d-fend and boxer I think.

Re: Ideal PC for maximum old game compatibility?

in PC Emulation
windows 3.1? why would you ever wanna put that on a dos box.. I think something like p100 is a very good one for all old games. just might need slowdown for some of the old games. and you ofcourse should manually set it up so you have most conventional memory free. if you wanna spend on awe64? I …

Re: netwroking support for db

in DOSBox General
There's work going on with the networking for sure. But at the moment people are waiting for IPX to work so they could play their dos games in multiplayer. There will surely be stuff I like this in the future, though who the *@#¤ would wanna browse the web in win3? 😀

Re: Questions about DOSBOX

in DOSBox General
Priestlyboy you seem to forget that amiga WAS the new system of Commodore. And it was Very popular. They just weren't as good in the business stuff as the computer stuff. Bad choices ended their story when pc was developing into a gaming platform. I sure am a great fan of the C64 and I still play …

Re: Problems Running DOSBOX in win98

in DOSBox General
Well atleast the dosbox binaries are for the new windows generation. Dont see much point in running dosbox in older windows versions. Sounds like you should rather play with your gfx card settings to get it right. you cpu is also pretty slow so newer games wouldn't run well, but dunno what you are …
