Re: DosBox and science old programs - Need help

Problem is that when we try use this exe with dosbox, nothing is work. From what I understand, you did NOT try to run this exe within dosbox, you "clicked" it. One does not "click programs" to run them in DOSBox. This strongly suggests you're running lasttobmp.exe from Windows. Is this true? If it …

Re: What's planned for DosBox 0.75?

Every time one of these threads pops up the release gets pushed back another year. A new release is nothing to be afraid of. If there aren't any showstopper bugs at the moment, make it a beta and let people download it. Wait a few weeks for complaints, fix regressions, don't fix what never worked …

Re: No CRT Emulation? Why!?

Doesn't look authentic enough though. Looks like very *bad* CRT. A *good* CRT may be very hard to emulate, because the effect is much more subtle. And realistic 60Hz flicker may be impossible to do on LCD.

Re: prevent 4:3 burn-in on 16:9 plasma???

Can you start any animation etc. around the gamescreen? Can the 4:3 gamescreen be moved 1px every 3rd second to the left until it reaches far left, and then go back to the far right? Well, DOSBox is an open-source project, so yes, it's certainly possible to implement such features, if you find a …

But S3 Virge *is* a 3D accelerated card, and from what I read on Wikipedia, there was a special VIRGE version of Mechwarrior 2. Surely it should work faster than software version. I have no idea if it works in DOS or requires Win95.

Could a TSR provide SB16 emulation? Yes, with issues. I remember Sound Blaster Live! had a TSR for emulation of older Sound Blasters. In some games it worked, in some it did not. And of course it took conventional memory, which is always precious. And before Live, Gravis Ultrasound also had such a …

DOS 7.1 from Windows 98SE is my DOS of choice. Clearly superior to 6.22 with FAT32 support (which means bigger partitions and more free space on small ones). I didn't have any memory problems, of course some config.sys tweaking is needed. With MEMMAKER you can get a bit more, and with QEMM even more …
