Re: MartyPC

in PC Emulation
Would you rather emulate the instruction on the left, or on the right? Well, I wouldn´t know where to begin in either case :-) but even I can see that the right one has a result after a short while. So yes! Fascinating stuff. Ah no, I didn´t read the diagram correctly. Plenty of additional stuff on …

Re: MartyPC

in PC Emulation
I really like MartyPC, the wait for the new version was well worth it! And the emulated hardware reminds me very strongly of my first DOS PC - VGA (which could also do Hercules, I think it was an OAK chipset), 1 MB RAM, 40 MB HDD. There is just one difference, it was an 80286. I seem to remember you …

Re: MartyPC

in PC Emulation
Just downloaded the nightly linux build, looks great so far! Just one thing, I think you have to be logged into github to be able to download files under actions.

Re: MartyPC

in PC Emulation
Maybe you could publish the new version regardless? I would try it immediately and would not be concerned because of Microsoft Defender at all. But then, I am on Linux (Wine) - so it is very, veery unlikely to get a Microsoft smartscreen in my face :-) In all seriousness, I really think you could …

Re: What's planned for DosBox 0.75?

At least all this seems to indicate that there WILL be a version 0.75. An official one, I mean. Great! I remember that I started a similar thread a long time ago. I was afraid since then that the DOSBox authors for some reason could not publish an offical 0.75. For some reason, DOSBox seems dead for …

Re: PCEm. Another PC emulator.

in PC Emulation
somehow forgot to mention all the cool things... - it runs faithfully as an xt with cga composite graphics, playing booter games just like in the early eighties - or it runs as a pentium mmx with windows 98 and 3dfx graphics, for games from 1995-2000 - it runs ms-dos, dr-dos, desqview, cpm86, os/2, …

Re: PCEm. Another PC emulator.

in PC Emulation
Ladies and gentlemen, thanks to the hard work of the people over at PCem, there finally is a powerful and accurate emulator for PCs of the 198ies and 1990ies era. Go try it out, it is faithful hardware level emulation: http://pcem-emulator.co.uk/ Its really fun, and already far more compatible then …

Re: DOSBox 0.74 CPU Benchmark (Quake)

Yes, viewsize 120 seems to be the default. I just tested this again: With "viewsize 100" I get 43.8 FPS. With 120 its 42.4 FPS. So it is definitely close. Id like to see somebody else´s results... my Win10 is an upgraded version, and those are usually slower than a clean install. In 320x200 (with …

Re: DOSBox 0.74 CPU Benchmark (Quake)

Just testing this on Windows 10 retail (did the update, not a clean install). Again very consistent - and slower: CPU i7 2600 at stock (3,4 GHZ). Win 8.1 64bit timedemo 1: 44,7 FPS on Win8.1 but around 42.5 FPS on Win10 timedemo 2: 49,7 FPS (W8.1) vs. 47 FPS (W10) timedemo 3: 44,5 FPS vs 42 FPS Well …

Re: Big anniversary coming

Thank you very much, again, for your work and for the changelog! I´d really like to see this version made public as an offical release. Some of the bug fixes in here are quite significant, especially the aspect correction, which has been improved greatly from 0.74. You must understand that DOS games …

Re: DOSBox 0.74 CPU Benchmark (Quake)

CPU i7 2600 at stock (3,4 GHZ). Win 8.1 64bit timedemo 1: 44,7 FPS Very constant, by the way. I ran the demo 4 times and it came out at 44,7 every time. If something happens in the background (nothing big, just another program working or so), it may go down to 43 FPS or so, but basically DOSBox does …

Re: Big anniversary coming

Well, go ahead and bundle it with HalfLife 3 ! ... ahh!! now I get it. I´m waiting for both, and it seems to take the same time. So thats the reason! The bundle is reality! The DOSBox team has intensified its relationship with Steam, and Gabe Newell himself has decided to make HL3 a DOS game, …

Re: Big anniversary coming

Ok, its a riddle, but not a very difficult one. It has to do with the topic of this subforum... and we all use it, except for those who use a custom build, obviously. In fact, the one thing Id be looking for would be if the developers would surprise us on the 12th of May. Even the numbers would …

Big anniversary coming

Hi, Im a longterm reader of Vogons, but this is the first time I have actually posted myself. Strange, after all this time... but I feel urged to do it, because I would like to point everybody to an important anniversary just coming up. In fact, its on the 12th of May, 2015. Big things in the past …
