Another one from just a fee years ago was the Crystal LED technology developed by SONY, and had they chosen to go forward with it, we'd now have flatpanel desktop monitors worth using.

I'm thinking maybe something related to the firewall. What does PING show for IPXNET connectivity? Never used SoftXPand so I don't know what else could be getting in the way.

Yep, that's it, but you definitely want the CD version thereof, not any of these garbage lossy rips floating out there, even 3DRealm's own ogg rip sounds like sin on any half-decent piece of audio equipment, be it your computer's or anything else you may have dedicated in your place for like purpose …
