I've just downgraded the bios to version P16 and it's working with a P3 1 GHz FSB 100 skt370 on a socket adapter with voltage selection on auto... Very interesting. So I'm better off avoiding the P17 bios all together and sticking with P16 as my SE440BX-2 mb is using a P3 1ghz SL4KL 100FSB CPU. …

Hi, not sure what to say. :( If an 78xx/79xx is faulty, it either shorts or passes the full voltage. These voltage regulators aren't expensive and can be bought in your local electronics shop. Just be sure to get the right parts. Some stabis can provide 0.5A, 1A or 1.5A (or 2A). So also better …

Try out the Microsoft Keyboard 500. Comes in beige or black, is PS2 and readily available on eBay as brand new in box. Cheap and works great. Been using them for years.

Small update: this adapter doesn't fit the AWE64 Gold, the male RCA plugs are a bit too far apart. This adapter fits nicely, with just a hairs gap between the RCA plugs when inserted.
