It seems they did several remakes for it. Those are a CD or multiple CDs in size. I also played with the original few mb version.

Thanks, i think this is the game. I am surprised its on wikipedia, where the say its for Windows 3.1 and PC98. I am pretty sure i was playing on it with DOS (but that could have been a built in emulator).

This has obviously nothing to do with ram. That would make the system instantly to crash long before you notice glitches in video games.

Please note, the K6/2+ is a laptop cpu, manufactured on different node than the normal k6/2. So its not just differs in cache, it differs in many ways. Might or might not works in a random desktop board. Its recommended to do a bios upgrade, which could fix your problems.
