OK I have my X2GS and since I don't know what I'm doing, I flashed it to both 0x5000 and 0x7000. Hopefully that doesn't "hurt" anything. I don't really need the original ROM's since the APPIAH 4.5 sounds so good in the samples above. Is that all that is needed to activate it from now on? Or do I …

Not only that, i find very difficult to find a very good 478 motherboard, most of the ones I see are are not the good ones. That's the issue. Now that we have perfect 20/20 hindsight, anyone who is familiar with this stuff KNOWS which motherboards, sound cards and video cards are the most desirable …

I've read all the topic here about why cycles defaults to 3000 (real mode), but I don't see any way to change that AND still have the auto function still work. If I set the initial cycles in the config file, it will no longer automatically bump up when playing a DOS Extended game like Doom. Can that …

I find the bass to be much stronger on the X2GS and by default the reverb is much stronger too - I recently cut the reverb in half because it was too much for my retro 2.1 speakers and it sounds more like a SC55 to my ears now. Necrothread revival. It turns out my SCD-15 has the channels reversed. I never noticed until now. Can anyone recommend someone who can reliably perform this surgery?

I remember when the Media Vision PAS cards came out. They needed a lot of resources IIRC. There was a short period of time where they were at the top of the heap, but a very short time. They were surpassed by better cards. Are you sure you don't want to use something else?

What are you trying to achieve? I believe there exists some VPN mechanisms to route IPX over TCP/IP.

I would get something with the i815EP chipset as it's slightly better than the plain 815E. It doesn't have integrated graphics which you wouldn't use. Well the ASUS P2B series is legendary. The 440BX chipset is merely "awesome". I have three ASUS P2B-B motherboards. Two are backups. Two of the three had their caps replaced proactively. I run a Slotket thingy to get up to a 1Ghz Celeron Tualatin. I stick with 100Mhz FSB for maximum compatibility. …

Is it possible to add a variable for the video memory to the config file? With the 8Mb video RAM, the S3 Windows 3.1 driver shows a black block as a mouse cursor. With 2Mb, I think it would be fine.

My change from the ASUS P55-T2P4 (since I owned one previously) to the EPOX P55-VA didn't seem to matter, but I'll stick with that one now.
