Re: Does DOSBox need a wiki system.

To my opinion, it can be great! I solved some problems on some software (spamassassin for example) with help from great FAQs based on the wiki system And the wikipedia is quite interesting now, especially for terms hard to find in a standard encyclopedia (I don't think there's an entry for Megatokyo …

Re: Gobliiins - Nothing

No problem at all with my copy of Gobliins 1 and dosbox 0.61, no extra config (5000 cycles, no frameskip, ems and xms do not matter, ...). Maybe there's a problem with your copy? (gobliins readme file says version 1.000 9/11/92 DOS)

Re: Privateer problem....

Yes, that happens on some games, where you have to use the 'real' + key on your keyboard, and not the key to the left of the backspace (where the + is on a US keyboard). My tactic is to switch the keyboard layout when playing in dosbox: on windows, there's a keyboard layout interface, on linux I use …

Re: Privateer problem....

Or wait for the next release ;) I am currently playing privateer with dosbox cvs on my athlon 900Mhz, at around 5500-6000 cycles, frameskip 1-3 (depending on how busy my computer is). It could be smoothier I guess, but it's quite playable and there's almost no sound stutter. But it was really slow …

Inca 2

Well it is reported in the game compatibility database as a supported game, but someone noted that it didn't work... So I gave it a try myself: I couldn't get it to work either :depressed: I have version: 1.000 INCA 2 Floppy March 18, 1994 tried on dosbox 0.61 with various settings (ems, xms, ...) …

Re: Privateer No CD error on WinXP

I have binaries of both 0.61 and CVS compiled with the same flags. Privateer runs a lot lot lot faster on the CVS version (and is playable on my box!) compared to 0.61. So the speedup is not related to the way dosbox is compiled (or some changes allowed gcc to do some more optimisations 😉 )

Re: Privateer buggy keyboard?

Well bad news: I didn't find a something-to-joy converter :/ But, I recently tried a joystick-to-usb converter (it's been quite a long time since the last time I tried), and I cant get it recognized without any difficulties now! Don't know when the needed driver was introduced in the linux kernel …

Re: Privateer buggy keyboard?

Hum if it's related to framerate, it will be quite hard for my athlon :( The mouse is working (more or less), but it's hard to stop the ship moving: in WC2, there is a mouse pointer that more or less represented a virtual joystick position, which isn't in Privateer, hence making the game unplayable …

Re: Privateer buggy keyboard?

Robertmo, I totally agree with you, but sometimes you don't have the choice... I had a laptop for 3 years now, which works quite well, but doesn't have a joystick port... A friend lent me his joystick/usb converter, but I couldn't get it to work on linux (and it couldn't work with all the triggers …
