Re: Matrox G450 on Windows 95

After tinkering, it's a bad card. At stock speeds, on a supported OS, with the latest drivers, it crashes 80% of the time running Winbench 95. Bummer. I might try replacing the RAM chips, just for fun.

Re: Matrox G450 on Windows 95

Thanks for this, my card is the "DVI" variant which wasn't found in the INF file in 6.23. Interestingly, I looked at the G450 CD found on Vogonsdrivers. It has an earlier 6.03 driver but it's INF file does contain the DVI card. I'll try that driver, but meanwhile I determined that the glitches are a …

Matrox G450 on Windows 95

I have a Matrox G450 I'd like to use on my P200 Windows 95 machine. Matrox still distributes the drivers, and says that 6.23 is the latest driver for Windows 95 https://www.matrox.com/cs/video/apps/drivers/graphics/previous/legacy/older_operating_system On a fresh install of Windows 95 OSR2.5, these …

Re: Bricked SSDs

I found some references to the power cycle procedure. It certainly can't hurt. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/7y7jut/did_your_ssd_suddenly_die_on_you_do_this_power/ Supposing this doesn't work, how does jumping the reset pins work? Just solder a wire and secure erase? Or solder, …

Re: Bricked SSDs

How would I check the chips inside the SSD? I bought 3 brand new RXD-629A7-7 and 3 identical refurbished X400 SSDs at the same time. No problems with the first pair in the Athlon XP machine. It could be a PSU issue, it's using the original PSU still. I'll check the voltage when I get home. This is …

Bricked SSDs

I don't know if anyone else has had a similar problem, but I just bricked a couple SSDs on my Pentium II. 256GB Sandisk X400 SSDs, with an RXD-629A7-7 SATA to IDE adaptor, on a 440LX board. I set up the partition on my modern machine, using only space below 128GB. Plugged the SSD into the Pentium II …

Re: How about a MR-BIOS ROM file repository?

What do you figure "2X-OSC" means in the description of this bios? V037B407 UMC_407 x037B403 (CL+) (NO turbo, for 486SX 2X-OSC) My board has a Turbo button, but it disables the cache. Which, if I understand correctly, means I want the CL+ version of the BIOS. But I have a 486DX2, not a 486SX. Is it …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

When not using the software driver for the SIS controller, both buffered and linear read speeds are at ~4100 Kb/s. When use the driver, the buffered read goes through the roof, but the liner speed increased only by 700Kb/s = ~4800 Kb/s. Can you share that sis83C411 driver? I haven't been able to …
