Back then I had Athlon XP 1800+ and GeForce 4 MX440 (128bit) and I remember Generals to be perfectly playable, but definitely not with details maxed out. So yeah, that P3 is probably too slow for this particular game. I'll test it on my P3/1GHz + GF4MX440 and I'll share the results, stay tuned ;) …

Can someone try Cubic Player / Open Cubic Player, please? In my case (Asus EEE netbook) playback works, but the screen is erratically jumping up&down and text is outputed ("trapcli pushf pop ax 0246 0246")

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately ModPlay doesn't work either, sound card is detected, but playback is silent. Guess I'll stick with Cubic Player, after all, screen jumping can be considered as advanced visualisation effect 😀)

Interesting! I have the same card as you, and when testing in Pentium III 1GHz machine, I get this, more or less the same. I was afraid the card is dead, there were some bent pins on one of the chips, but now there is a hope! 😀

From these two, I would definitely choose the clone. With 386, you really want good OPL sound, and AWE64 is a disaster in that regard. On the other hand, that big "74LS631" chip on this Protac card is probably 100% OPL2 clone.
