Re: wrong version of "Tomb.exe"???

Now then... I had (still have actually - in it's box somewhere) an ATI Rage Pro AGP and it certainly *did* support OpenGL - I ran GLQuake perfectly at 640x480. The original driver CD was enough to offer the accelerated graphics - even by replacing the Quake MiniGL driver with the full ATI one. Also …

Re: wrong version of "Tomb.exe"???

Yes, I agree too. I remember when I first started with Glidos I thought I was way too clever to actually bother with supplied installers... However using the Glidos installer really *is* the best way because it copies the right files to the right places and then, somewhat less than surprisingly, * …

Re: TR / Glidos Help PLEEASE !

Quote: ".... or when trying to exit the game." So does that mean you actually get to play TR1 ? If NOT it could be the Nvidia Vesa switching bug. Which version of Glidos are you trying? It was fixed in th last two releases. If you ARE getting to install and play then the problem sounds like either a …

Re: EF2000 for DOS with 3DFX patch

Well thanks for all the work so far Paul (and the other guys). I knew it would be a tough nut to crack. I'm a rank amateur at the programming lark, but I assume that even with a direct link to a graphics card (as opposed to through an external API) all the executable is actually looking at is a …

Re: EF2000 for DOS with 3DFX patch

Thanks for that. I've just downloaded the FAQ and modified drivers etc. I'll give them a go and report back. (How you managed to find those links is pretty impressive! Cheers! I do searches but never seem to find anything useful!)

Re: EF2000 for DOS with 3DFX patch

Thanks! That sounds *very* useful. I for one will try the downloads. I was up against the limits of my knowledge on this one. I suppose I was also hoping that Paul would be spared some of the load because I think I knew this was going to be a tricky one.... There's been plenty of interest in this …

Re: EF2000 for DOS with 3DFX patch

[QUOTE] Originally posted by Glidos What were your settings? Well I've just tried a fresh install of the basic software mode EF2000 for DOS... Settings needed were 600kb base mem, 4mb expanded. (XP happy but ME complained not enough total memory to do what I asked... Jiggled the figures a bit) Auto …

Re: EF2000 for DOS with 3DFX patch

Well I've gotten nowhere with EF2000. It looks to me as though the 3dfx version is statically linked with the Glide library, and doesn't use Glide2x.ovl, in which case there's no chance with Glidos. On the other hand, I can't even get it running in software mode. Well I understand from prev posts …

Re: any news?

Been playing with the settings - no go with the voodoo 3 or original vodoo 1 (managed to get a corrupt version of RB working so its not totally dead but bugger all in ef2000). So looks as if glidos is the last hope for ef2000. Any news? As expected - Voodoo 3 is a no-go for EF2000 as it stands. It …

Re: cannot install

When I tried the new install last night I couldn't get *near* to the sound config, it had gone belly-up long before. Does anyone know if we can manually edit HMISET.CFG ? Would it be a good idea to pre-config some different HIMSET.CFG files, listing the sound set-ups etc) and posting those? Just a …

Re: Want's, needs and desires....

Heh, Nigel, that's what OpenGLide is (GliDOS runs on top of OpenGLide, heh). So I believe. Trouble is, before I found Glidos (et al) I hadn't managed to get any of the other wrappers to work for me (even the previous Openglide). When Glidos actually *worked* I was bowled over! (I've got back up now …

Re: Want's, needs and desires....

Jolly good idea! Mind you, there's a directx patch for F-15 which goes some way towards (though not all the way) matching the original 3DFX graphics. The best advantage, if Glidos could help, would be to increase the original screen resolution from a 640x480 max to a higher one. Trouble is the …

Re: cannot install

Thanks for the info. This is the first conclusive report that that v1.18 fixes the GF2 problem. The daft thing is though that almost everybody that could be helped by this are going to be stumped by the install. A trick that might work: copy glidvesa.exe from the Glidos folder to the root of your C …

Re: EF2000 for DOS with 3DFX patch

Yes, that's quite right. Sorry for being vague. I've just found the batch file I used to use to start EF+Tact+GFX (bit of luck really) way back then. I'm not an SST variable expert by the way, and the ef2000.pif was used instead of the .exe because it contained the DOS-mode screen and memory …

Re: cannot install

No, the install problem I've had is not the Administrator priviledges (I am he!) it's purely a graphics prob. When I first encountered this, and before v1.18 of Glidos with the Vesa support and fixes, I thought the problem had been a DOS4GW prob as it always hung there. But nope, the Glidos upgrade …

Re: EF2000 for DOS with 3DFX patch

Hmmm... I certainly had EF2000+Tactcom+GFX running under Win98 (not SE though) in full-screen mode but that was using an ATI Rage Pro AGP graphics card with a Voodoo2 and a lot of SST variable tweaking. (Smokeypoint has a good page with all the variables to play with etc.) As the machine was an …

Re: cannot install

Yes, I had this problem too.. (WinXP nvidia geforce 2mx). Although I can run Glidos and TR1 (looking splendid!) I couldn't install either. In the end I installed to my laptop then copied the resultant files over etc. I think this is the nvidia vesa/full-screen prob again because Glidos fixes this …

Re: EF2000 for DOS with 3DFX patch

Well... Super EF2000 installs and uninstalls faultlessly - for a Win9x programme. A full install doesn't need a CD and uses directx and so can run in windowed mode. Otherwise it is exactly the same as the Tactcom-upgraded DOS version with standard graphics. The DOS version is superior because of the …
