Re: Torin's Passage and King's Quest 7 Videos

in DOS
I am using DBGL as a DOSBox front end and it does give an option for core=full, and when I used this setting and did a fresh install with the cycles set to auto it simply maxed out during gameplay but DID give me full screen video as promised with the editing of the config file. It would be great if …

Re: Bin/Cue with OGG?

I have tried both an ISO and a BIN format now. Looking at this thread cannot mount cue/iso/ogg informs me that it likely is not possible to place the ogg files in either a BIN or ISO file and have a cue sheet point to them. I will have to put them elsewhere, I suppose.

Re: Bin/Cue with OGG?

I swear I can normally work things out on my own, but this is just driving me up the wall. I used the cue sheet generator (neat tool, by the way) and made the bin/cue pair as needed. The cue file now looks like this: FILE "GAME.BIN" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE1/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "track02.ogg" MP3 …

Re: Bin/Cue with OGG?

What I am trying to do is as follows: Take an original disk that combines data+redbook audio for a game. Turn it into a bin/cue pair. The cue sheet would look like this: FILE "GAME.BIN" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE1/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00 TRACK 02 AUDIO PREGAP 00:03:00 INDEX 01 04:00:00 Then compress the …

Re: Bin/Cue with OGG?

So far I have been using a cue/bin pair with the ogg file stored externally (originally, of course, it was the redbook audio track on the CD) and the cue file pointing to the external location. This is just a little messy and I'd like to insert it into the bin file if possible (or an iso file). Just …

Bin/Cue with OGG?

Is there a way to create a bin/cue pair with an ogg file in the .bin it that is a compressed version of the original redbook cd audio, and have it noted in the .cue file to work as the original CD? I'm trying to make a portable disc image of a relatively small size (>60mb) that I can use between …

Re: Help identifying adventure game?

in Milliways
Holy cow that is it! Seeing the hexagonal spell-casting stone things in the screenshots triggered some more memories, then I looked up a Let's Play on YouTube to see if I could find the image I was thinking of and there it was in the second part! I'm definitely going to have to try to find this game …

Help identifying adventure game?

in Milliways
As a kid I played a few King's Quest games with my siblings under the guidance of my aunt. Another adventure game we played has stuck in my memory quite well, but I don't remember the name of it--just a few mental images. I'm hoping someone might know what it was. I'm not sure if it was a DOS or …

Re: Realms of Arkania 3 Soundblaster support?

in DOS
Sorry for the lack of info. To be more clear, the redbook CD audio plays fine. I'm more interested in whether the digital sound effects in the game are somehow broken and/or missing. When you start the game and the credits are rolling, there is no audio whatsoever, and it really seems like there …

Realms of Arkania 3 Soundblaster support?

in DOS
Hello, I've got the GOG version of Realms of Arkania 3, but it seems like it is missing some sounds, particularly during the intro where it is completely silent. It is running off of a bin/cue image, and I've tried running it in DOSbox myself and setting up the sound via the setup utility. Does …

Re: Big Red Adventure

in DOS
...or maybe I just had my cycles set too high for the music to work properly. Disregard that portion of my response 😀

Re: Big Red Adventure

in DOS
I was finally able to get the game running using your instructions regarding JEMM and also by selecting Adlib for the music option, which seems to have disabled all music whereas the Midi option made it crash a little further into the intro. This game just seems very buggy in general, hopefully I …

Big Red Adventure

in DOS
I'm trying to get my old CD of this game working in DosBox, but it crashes during the intro EVERY time no matter what I do. I've seen some threads that suggest that turning off the game's custom mouse cursor via the TBRA.BAT file makes it work, but this didn't work for me. Others say that turning …

Re: Sierra/Dynamix sound driver hacking

in DOS
I don't want to seem ungrateful, I love this thread and almost all of the updates included in it. I've learned a lot about Sierra's methods from reading through. What would it take to create a GMBLAST.DRV file to supplement the MTBLAST.DRV file already offered for Space Quest 3 and other games like …

Re: Torin's Passage and King's Quest 7 Videos

in DOS
Alright, more research and more experimenting. The DOS version of King's Quest 7 uses videos encoded in the .RBT file format, not .AVI. Additionally, I have no idea how to get any info from the file types at this time. As for Torin's Passage: I tried simply copying the SIER.EXE file from the Leisure …
