It was very disappointing. Partly because 486s can't really handle 3D rendering and partly because the visuals are like software mode. Also it was like NV1 with very few games. LOL must have been like every other 3D graphics card back in that era then (pre-DirectX). Small performance boost at best …

That's because the Rage isn't doing that transparent surfaces itself - the cpu is, through the driver ! and that's what made rage suck. I could never get either of my TUSL2-C boards to power up using antec power supplies, but they worked fine with the other branded ones I have. Maybe try a different psu? Is there any PCI implementation of Permedia3? Turns out the TUSL2 board is a dud. I managed to get my P2B to boot on the same power supply, just swapping out the RAM stick and changing the FSB jumper to 66 MHz. Don't really trust buying old hardware on ebay anymore, ugh

The TNT2 Ultra is the oldest card I have, and it also happens to be the only one that has drivers for Windows 3.1x for higher color modes (256 colors and higher) - basically I wanted to assemble something that can also run Win3.1 with its full bells and whistles
