Re: CPU cycles, how it works?

Why it is so? Daggerfall have some wonky behavior when the CPU is too fast. This happens if you play Daggerfall on a, say, 600MHz computer in DOS too. But all that means is you find a good speed and set your dosbox cycles to that level. That's exactly that's why we can control the cycles count, and …

Re: How to input double quotes in Dosbox ?

Just a warning. Mounting folders in a system folders like the %ProgramFile% directory for old games can cause problems with permissions. It is recommended that you only mount folders that you have full write permissions, such as "C:\oldgames". This is why GOG now defaults to "C:\GOG Games" for its …

Re: Does DOSBox negate needing a PC?

For me it kinda has. Thanks to DOSBox it now been maybe half a decade since I last touched my DOS computers. There are a few games that doesn't really run quite well in DOSBox though, like Fade to Black and Redguard. Both games suffer from inverted audio (left/right played wrongly) and Redguard got …

Re: amiga

in Milliways
I have 3 Amiga computers (A1000, A500 and A1200). As far as I know, they all work, but it's been some time since I used any of them. The A1200 was actually my main computer until summer 1999 when I got myself an 450Mhz PC, so I used it a lot for 7 years. Quite a long time for a computer, even if I …

Re: Standalone game question..Please help

If you gonna make easy click & play installations, then I suggest you put the game folder inside the DOSBox folder. Like this. C:\DOSBox C:\DOSBox\MountedC C:\DOSBox\MountedC\Frontier And then have a dosbox.conf file inside C:\DOSBox with the lines [autoexec] # Lines in this section will be run at …

Re: Dosbox CPU option

DosFreak wrote: DOSBox is just like any program, if you have improper or faulty cooling then any CPU/GPU intensive program can harm your computer. Yeah, software can't use more than 100% of the hardware, no matter what. It's then up to the cooling to be able to handle the heat from the 100% …

Re: Soundcard advice for Win 7 Dosbox

Yeah Realtek HD audio ALC888 is excellent from what i've heard. Aye, the integrated stuff is good enough to use for most things, especially something like DOSBox that only use stereo sound. I use integrated audio on my gaming computer and I have no complaints. No games ever given me a high latency …

Re: Daggerfall

That error message is rather common when the user mounted the CD-ROM wrongly, but since you say you mounted everything correctly that can't be it so don't bother to double-check that.
