Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

@willow: You can register multiple DOSBox versions to be used in DFR via the setup dialog (page: External programs -> DOSBox). But DFR is always expecting the DOSBox program file to be named "dosbox.exe". If you rename a com file to exe, the program will not work. If you have registered multiple …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Changing the base folder for relative path names does not change the location of the configuration folder. It only means relative path names like ".\VirtualHD\SomeGame" in the profile editor are interpreted as relative to some other base folder. If you want to use some other directory than "% …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

DFR is not doing anything special. All communication with DOSBox is done via the conf file. So identical conf files should lead to identical results. Maybe not only the settings in the [midi] section have influence on the sound quality in the game you are using. The available CPU cycles for example …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

I didn't know DOSBox-X yet. If it's using the same configuration file format as DOSBox, you can just add a DOSBox-X installation as an extra DOSBox installation for being used in DFR via the setup dialog. If it's working in a completely different way, you can still use it by adding it as a custom …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Hi viritys, I've tried to reproduce the problem but if I follow your steps the path name does not get shortened on my system. The path name of the custom emulator just stays (as expected) in long format. The automatic word wrap in the notes fields are intended. So the user does not need to wrap …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

I do not have CoolSoft VirtualMIDI and cannot reproduce your problem. For me the MIDI device selection is working. As a workaround you can add these lines in the "Custom settings" box of the DOSBox page in the profile editor: [midi] midiconfig=... Here you can enter any custom MIDI configuration ( …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

#1 If you define some meta information on the "Program information" page of the profile editor for some game, it will be listed only if you selected the matching value in the category tree. For example if you select "1990" as the release year on the "Program information" page, a sub entry "1990" …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Sorry, but this does not sound like a D-Fend Reloaded related problem. It's even not clear if this is a DOSBox problem anyway. If the connection worked one day and did not work another day it's more likely something on the system changed causing the problem.

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Sorry, but as far as I know DOSBox cannot just send keys to a program running in DOSBox. You can try to find some DOS TSR running inside DOSBox doing this job or some Windows macro recorder which can send the keys to DOSBox and DOSBox then is giving them to the game. If you want to control the macro …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Go to the "DOSBox CVS features" page of the setup dialog (sub page of "External program" -> "DOSBox") and check "Activate printer settings" there. Opening the profile editor will show a new page for printer setup. If you want to add furthermore lines, not covered by the DFR settings, to the …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

I'm using DFR on Windows 7, 64 bit with 1000+ profiles and without any problems. Random problems while using the GUI sometimes arise when using some strange tools for changing the Windows look & feel. Besides this there are not any known problems on Windows 7 or on large profile data bases.

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

I don't know the mentioned games so I can't say much about this. But you can change the game folder to match the value from the configuration file easily: Open the games folder in the Windows Explorer (in DFR: Extras->Open games folder) and rename the folder from what ever the long form of CHAMPI~1 …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

@CaptPete2003: Sorry, I cannot reproduce this problem. For me everything is running fine. (But I'm not using any Windows 10 system yet.) @Ranthalion75: And the answer is just the same as the last time: This is due to the limitations of the runtime library. I have no control over the alignment of the …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Hi Staticblast, when running DFR in the debugger I get the following internal, not displayed exception when trying to read the cover image: The file being readed is not a valid "Portable Network Graphics" image because it contains an invalid header. This file may be corruped, try obtaining it again. …
