Try forcing it in your video driver as you would for any other game (that doesn't have an in game option). Then try running with direct3d / opengl as the output (if overlay has is unaffected - if overlay works after the change then leave it).

Make sure you're running DOSBox 0.70 Check CORE= line in dosbox.conf. Actually, attach your dosbox.conf so others can look over it. And get your mate to attach theirs (or get a copy of it too). 😜

Try loading UniVBE You will most likely need to www.google.com for it It is a legal free VESA driver/TSR for DOS. Apparently DOSBox does not emulate VESA for all the video modes. It is your best shot IMHO, at least if it fails it'll be one step closer to isolating the fault. 😎

You have BLOCKSIZE and PREBUFFER confused by the looks of it. Setting PREBUFFER to 4096 buffers 4096 ms of audio, or about 4 seconds. Try using LOADFIX [FILENAME.EXE]. DOSBox has almost all 640 KB Convential Memory available, and some applications only expect 576 KB to be available. Failing that try installing real MS/PC DOS into DOSBox, and perhaps use QEMM if you're using Desqview.

wd, You running that test in DOSBox or on hardware ? If DOSBox and it falls back to 'lower' FPU wouldn't the stream of instructions thus be different (for the 'lower' FPU). If it does check for 2 different FPUs, and detects the 'better' FPU is present would it not attempt to use such 'higher' FPU …
