Re: DOSBox Game Launcher (DOSBox Frontend)

in DOSBox General
Hi, I'm trying to get dbgl running (again) on a "portable" installation I have on my NAS which so far I successfully shared between Windows and OSX by mounting it. I'm facing a problem on OSX Sonoma 14 (Intel) using dbgl 0.97, in that on startup it seems it wants to copy all files to ~/Library/dbgl …

Re: Problems Running Software

You'll quickly get feedback here that dosbox is meant for games and isn't concerned for other types of software. You may have luck with dosbox-x, which is a fork of dosbox, which describes itself as "Compatibility with DOS programs and games". HTH

Odd thing; it looks like the screenshot height in px somehow got messed up. Please check File -> Preferences -> GUI options tab, 'Screenshots, Height' and choose a reasonable amount, such as 300px. Then restart DBGL to see if it resolves the issue. If not, please share the contents of your DBGL ' …

Hi, I upgraded to 0.92 yesterday on Windows and noticed that the thumbnails, whilst preserved, don't show up correctly: Snip20201107_25.png Clicking on them shows them correctly, so I don't think it's a problem with the images themselves. I have dbgl on a NAS where I access it via SMB on Windows or …

SPDIF0 <- that's supposed to be a zero at the end 1234567890 <- numbers jumping up and down and varying in size Didn't notice but now, can't unsee. The custom font used here looks that way => https://www.vogons.org/styles/vogons199x/theme/fonts/MerriweatherSans-Book.woff2 . The fallback, "Trebuchet …

🤷‍♀️ The contrast between "blurple" background and white text is too high in my opinion. Make the text less white? just slightly gray This new contrast improved things > 100% for me. In the old forum, the contrast was quite bad actually and put quite some strain on my eyes. Now it's almost perfect. …

I know I'm a bit late to the party but… so many thanks for the upgrade. I'm usually a hater when it comes to things changing, old habits and stuff; but this? This update? I haven't seen such an improvement of a site, where it filled me with joy, in a decade 🎉 So, many many thanks for this 🙇‍♀️

Re: This forum is very hard to use from a mobile device

I'm also having a hard time browsing/navigating around on the forum on mobile (using Firefox Mobile here). Made some screenshots how it looks / feels: https://imgur.com/a/0inoKgR Board and forum list view are the hardest part unless you constantly zoom in/out. Within a thread, it's "mostly okayish" …

Hi, I downloaded (updated) from the latest version at http://members.quicknet.nl/blankendaalr/dbgl/ but fetching meta-data via Moby doesn't work. No error message, just always get: > Moby Games returns no results for "Commander Keen" Tried it with lots of other words, always the same. I noticed that …

Using 0.76, can I specify a custom mappingfile with the profile editor dialog somehow? I'm unable to find anything. If I change it directly in the profiles/*.conf file, it works and stays. In my case I've game specific mapping I don't want to have globally. Btw, when I run dosbox and enter the …

Re: Quest for Glory 5 - Dragonfire

Ok it works now, awesome. The problem was the mounting of the ISOs, I guess. I was having mounted both CDs and it crashed always. I tried a few days later, only the with the “GAME” CD mounted and it worked flawlessly. Sometimes things can be fixed so easy, but yet I decided to install W98 in the …

Quest for Glory 5 - Dragonfire

I originally posted this text to a comment in a blog, but actually I think due the broader audience I can easier get help here :) I'm running WXP, inserted the CD and tried to install it. I don't remember how many times I started setup.exe, because after the installer splash screen, the pre- …

Re: New DOSBox Frontend - DOSBox Game Launcher

in DOSBox General
Hmm, after taking shots in DOSBox they should show up in DBGL directly after leaving the game. Did you move the DBGL directory around? That might cause the capture directory to be pointing to a nonexisting dir. You may want to take a look inside a game profile to see where the captures are stored. …

JPC - java based x86 emulation

in DOSBox General
Appeared on /. : http://www.physics.ox.ac.uk/jpc/ http://www.physics.ox.ac.uk/jpc/Demo.html The demo, running inside the browser, is quite interesting. Of course, I guess, performance-wise it won't cope with dosbox.
